The Surgical Options

Two surgical procedures can address hip dips: fat transfer and hip implants. Both are significant surgeries with real recovery, real cost, and real risks.

Fat Transfer

Fat is harvested from another area (abdomen, flanks, thighs) via liposuction, purified, and injected into the trochanteric depression. 60-80% of transferred fat survives long-term. Cost: $8,000-$20,000. Recovery: 2-6 weeks. Final result: 3-6 months.

Hip Implants

Solid silicone prostheses placed under the tissue over the depression. Predictable, permanent volume. More invasive than fat transfer. Cost: $14,000-$30,000. Recovery: 4-8 weeks. Final result: 3 months. Best for very lean patients without donor fat.

Liposuction

Liposuction alone does not correct hip dips. Removing fat from adjacent areas sometimes improves the contour by creating a smoother transition, but this is a secondary effect and not a primary hip dip correction.
